16th Century Cow-mouth Shoes

Product description

This type of shoes with a broad tip was popular around the 16th century in all classes of society. It was worn in a large variety and was even copied in the designs of armour from that era. Many layers of society couldn’t afford new shoes and re-used shoes time and time again. Several shoes from for example the Museum of London show how they were repaired and adjusted to size regularly. This type of shoes was worn in the age of Henry VIII of England, the Spanish Armada, teh start of the 80 years war in the Nerhlands, by the German Landsknechts and during the battle of Pavia.
These are made of 3 mm thick pigs leather and have a hard leather sole.

Tip: our shoes are available in brown leather only. They can be coloured easily by using coloured shoe polish or leather dye. You can also decorate the edges with stitching.

Maintenance & care
Just as with weaponry, you can care for your shoes and leatherware by applying a little Ballistol after cleaning. This prevents the leather from drying out.

When packaging this item, we exclusively use 100% recycled plastic and recycled paper/cardboard from FSC certified forests. We reuse a large part of the material directly without the intervention of a recycling process.
Recycle the material by separating your waste:
1. Cardboard: separate or reuse your paper.
2. Plastic cushions, clothing bags and plastic tape: separate or reuse your plastic. If possible, pierce the cushions with a volume reduction needle.
3. Paper packaging for jewelry and small items: these have a plastic inner layer. Remove these, then separate your paper and plastic.
